  • Black flies have become a symbol of Ilhabela. They inhabit the entire island. However, the number of black flies is higher on beaches with rivers (e.g., Jabaquara, Castelhanos, Bonete) and at waterfalls. There are times when they practically don't appear and times when they are more frequent, but it's impossible to say what the situation will be like on the day of your reservation.
